Patient : Louise talks about her Abdominoplasty

Dr. : I’m in clinic today with Louise who is 6 weeks post tummy tuck procedure. Thank you for talking to us Louise, can you just tell me how you managed to find us and why you decided to come along for this procedure?
Louise: Okay, when I decided when I wanted to have it done I went to see my GP who gave me a list of plastic surgeons that they have on their kind of register in other words and they recommend to go towards one of these rather than just to someone that they are not aware of so I need there was one that might surgery and my GP were happy with. And then from the list of names I googled each surgeon and from the research on the internet I thought that Adrian Richards had it’s a very concised and informed website and he seemed to be extremely qualified and that’s why I then made that appointment to come here. And then after meeting Mr. Richards I’ve decided he would definitely be the person that I wanted to do it.
Dr.: He answered all the questions that you wanted?
Louise: Yeah, it’s was really clear. But I think maybe for me he’s such a friendly and very warm despite welcoming person I think. I knew that medically he was very well qualified and for me I felt quite comfortable with him and comfortable with the idea of him actually cutting my abdomen.
Dr. : Okay, so you booked an appointment to come in to the Shelburne Hospital High Wycombe and how long did you stay there? Was it a 2-night stay or 3-night stay you had?
Louise: It was a 2-night stay I had the operation on the Tuesday morning at 9 and then I was back in my room again by 12 and that Tuesday night I stayed in and an all day Wednesday and then Wednesday night and I was back home again by kind of mid-day on the Thursday.
Dr. : Okay, while in your hospital you were seen by physical therapists and so staff to look after your pain relief?
Louise: Yes, I saw Denise test obviously before the operations and she came back twice off well just to make sure if I was okay and see how I was feeling. And then I had obviously the nursing care and it was mainly like just had a like I had a day nurse and like a night time nurse so I got to know the day-time nurse especially quite well which is really nice and some familiar who came in the morning to see me and over seeing this staff bring the tees and often they’re lovely and friendly.
Dr. : And when you went home did you have to put your feet up or were you able to sort of foster around?
Louise: For the first probably week, moving around was fairly uncomfortable but not too painful that’s the one thing I found quite strange there was no point was I in that awful pain. It was just a little bit more uncomfortable it hindered my movement because I don’t want to move too fast but I was actually able to do most things but I don’t want to do most things. I found I was kind of hunched over for about 5 days and then after that time I found I could stand up very much straight. It quickly progress from there after about 2- 2 1/2 weeks I was pretty much back to normal again.
Dr. : Where you driving then again?
Louise: Yes, after a sort of it after my 2-week appointment I was able to take the corset binder thing off which really was nice at that point to take off. And so I could drive just big plus. And then I felt totally normal after then really maybe a little bit tender around the scar area but again no pain at all.
Dr. : And were now 6 weeks you’re very into your running and you’re now looking back forward to getting back to exercise?
Louise: Yes, I’m looking forward to getting back to get in stuck into again. I feel like I probably could have started earlier but then I don’t want to rush it. And I just feel so much better now the itself I cannot barely see it really I might forget if I had it done right at the time done but other people notice, people that didn’t know I had the operation have noticed it them on and asked me what gone differently and people who have seen it before and after completely amazed by the results. My husband and I both overwhelmed with how it looks now and I feel really confident again back into all my clothes I used to wear before I had children and I feel confident wearing them rather than wearing things that kinda hide the areas specially I sitdown I can’t believe I looked normal again.That’s amazing.
