What Is The Most Effective Treatment For Man Boobs [Gynecomastia]
August 13th, 2010
Gynecomastia or excess tissue in the male breast area is extremely common. It does not necessarily depend on your over all body weight.
Some people with normal weight can deposit tissue in their chest area where as other people of much higher weight do not deposit tissue in this area.
The options between treatments lie between liposuction techniques including vaser liposuction and excisional surgery.
Excisional surgery removes skin as well as fatty tissue and is generally used for people who have the sagging of skin as well puffiness of the chest area.
Vaser liposuction is a more appropriate if there is much of sagging skin and main problem is puffiness underneath the skin in the breast area.
Vaser liposuction works by emulsifying the fat with ultrasound energy which is then removed by suction.
If you would like to know the best form of treatment for you, for you chest area it would be possible to send us a photograph of your chest to info@aurora-clinics.co.uk and will be able to give you a partial advice as to whether liposuction or excisional technique removing skin would be best for you.
How Does Vaser Liposuction Work?
August 12th, 2010
Vaser liposuction is most modern type of liposuction available and essentially uses ultrasound energy to disperse the fatty tissue prior to being removed by liposuction.
The procedure is performed under local anesthetic with you awake and the ultrasound energy is delivered by a simplifying canula then used to disrupt fatty cells in the area.
The fat is then released by the cells after as a result of the ultrasound energy which emulsifies the fat turning into a milky liquid.
This milky liquid is then removed by liposuction techniques
The number of advantages in vaser liposuction over traditional liposuction will be discussed further blog posts
Why is Vaser Liposuction Better Than Traditional Liposuction?
August 9th, 2010In vaser liposuction ultrasound energy is used to disperse the fatty tissue in the affected area. Just by ultrasound energy causing the fatty acids to dissolve and release the contained fatty tissue
The emulsified fatty tissue is then removed by liposuction.
The advantages of vaser liposuction are
- Quicker recovery
- Procedure normally preformed under local anesthetic with you awake
- Less swelling
- Less bruising
- More even result with more fatty tissue being removed
In my opinion vaser liposuction is now the preferred option for treatment for liposuction as the result of recovery in most cases are much better than more traditional techniques.
How does fat distribution vary between men and women?
August 2nd, 2010

Men and women tend to have fat in very different areas.
Women tend to hold fat around their middle portion namely the hips and thighs.
Men on the other hand tend to hold their fat within their tummy cavity and often develop beer bellies which is due to excess fat around the chest lines within the top of the cavity.
This means that men with a beer belly are not suitable for liposuction technique as the fat lies within the tummy cavity.
However, women with excess fatty tissue around the thigh and hip regions are suitable for liposuction treatment.

Liposuction – How Much Can Be Removed?
July 17th, 2010Generally the maximum amount of fatty tissue that I recommend be removed during liposuction is 5 litres of fatty tissue.
This corresponds to approximately 5 kilograms of fat.
The reason I do not recommend removal of more tissue than this is that it can cause disturbances to the fluid balance in the body and serious complications following surgery and more common if more than 5 litres is removed.
However, five litres of fatty tissue being removed will make it considerable difference to your overall body shape.

Should liposuction be performed with tummy tuck surgery?
July 13th, 2010
Many surgeons do perform liposuction with tummy tuck surgery. In my opinion this is safe as long as the liposuction is not performed extensively to the upper tummy. This is because this is the area through which the blood travels to the lower part of the tummy skin and liposuction can jeopardize this. I occastionally perform liposuction to other areas such as the love handles, thighs and knee areas during tummy tuck surgery but generally advise against liposuction to the upper part of the tummy at the same time of surgery. This is because I have seen problems with wound healing and in very severe cases death.
VASER Liposuction Better Than Normal Liposuction?
June 21st, 2010
VASER Liposuction is the new craze in liposuction. Essentially, ultrasound energy is used to dissolve the fatty tissue and this machine that delivers the ultrasound energy is known as the VASER machine.
It is important to realise that just because you are being treated with VASER does not guarantee perfect results. What is more important is the skill of the injector.
The advantages of VASER treatment are quicker recovery, less bruising and swelling, but VASER treatment, if not used by an experienced practitioner, can cause problems such as irregularity and contour defects to the skin.
On balance I think, VASER therapy is better and has significant advantages to traditional liposuction but it is very important to check the experience of your practitioner and it is best if you can get a personal recommendation from someone who has had similar treatment.
