High Profile PIP Implants - Removal and Replacement Surgery

Transcript
Hello, I’m going to be taking you through an operation. The lady had bilateral breast augmentation, 405cc PIP implants in 2009. She’s concerned about the PIP issue. She wants to have her implants removed and then go slightly larger, perhaps a little wider with slightly better cleavage with Nagor implants. So we’re probably going to increase them slightly to either 420 or 460 IMP-MR implants. I’ll be taking you through the operation.
So this is the old scar I’ve just removed there. So I’ve taken the old scar out, so we’re back to fresh tissue either side. Now, I’m just going to go and look at the implant.
So I’ve just removed the implant, and you can see . . . I don’t know if you can see there’s a sort of a lining of silicone all around it. So it’s a high profile implant. So you see it’s quite domed, and it’s got a lot of silicone on the outside. Can you see all that there? It’s very oozy, but it is intact. So it’s an ultra high UH profile implant, and with some rippling and quite a lot of gel bleed because of the poor quality of the capsule.
We’ve got some more gel bleed on the left implant. The left implant is in similar condition. It’s intact, but again with quite a lot of gel bleed as we can see here. So it is intact, and it’s, again, an ultra high PIP implant.
This is the end of the operation. I’ve just removed those implants and put in slightly wider Nagor implants on both sides.
So I’m going to show you the implants on both sides. First of all, if you compare them, you can see the right one is slightly more yellowy than the left one. They’re both ultra high profile implants. That’s what the UH stands for, and that means that they’re narrow but high. Our patient wanted a little bit more width.
So they’re intact. Gel bleed has dried out, and we’re finding some of the ultra highs are performing a bit better than the normal PIPs. But you can see there is a significant difference between the two sides in the colour.
They are different lot numbers, different batch numbers. This one is 61908 on the right. On the left, 59108. So they are performing a little bit differently.
So, just to say thanks for watching the video. Loads more videos in our series on PIP implants, and we’ve also got videos on other things. So please have a look at those as well.
