This is a surgery video performed by Adrian Richards, which shows a breast augmentation and mastopexy combination of surgeries using his new OCEAN™ technique.
Our patient in this video has some breast asymmetry, so one side is going to require more of a lift. The right side is suitable for a peri-areola mastopexy which is what the OCEAN™ technique is. The left side however, has a lower nipple position, which means it needs to move further up the breast in order to achieve good symmetry. For this reason, it is unlikely that the OCEAN™ technique will suffice, therefore a short vertical scar will be present just underneath the nipple area where the skin has to be folded in.
We move onto the beginning of the procedure, where Mr Richards shows us the area of skin that will be removed, along with the initial points that will be rejoined. The points are, using Mr Richards clock analogy, 12 o’clock, 3, 6 and 9.
The next clip shows the layer of skin is already removed, leaving the under white layer which is called the dermis. Mr Richards then uses the cutting diathermy to create a semi-circle incision around the lower half of the areola. This is where the implant will be inserted. The next clip shows the 390cc breast implant already inserted, and now is the time to start closing the incision and tightening up the skin around the areola to create the lift effect. The video then skips to the next clip, where everything has been sewn up and glued, to leave the right hand side finished. The only scarring that the patient will have is around the areola, which can also be tattooed to match the shading of your nipple so it is even more discreet.
We then move to the end of the procedure, and see the end results. The patient has tape on her inicisons, and Mr Richards managed to complete the surgery on both breasts using just the ‘O’ scar. He used different sized implants to correct the asymmetry.
