Facelift Surgery (Rhytidectomy)

The facelift (also spelt 'face lift' and scientifically known as a rhytidectomy) is one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures in the UK today. Thanks to growing media publicity about celebrities who have had the procedure, many patients are familiar with the concept of face lift surgery and now consider it an option as they get older and their face begins to lose its youthful shape.

PIP Implant Replacement with High Profile Nagor Implants

24th July 2012

Facelift Surgery

This lady originally received PIP breast implants in 2008, and came to Aurora Clinics seeking removal and replacement with larger implants.
We found the PIP implants we removed had slight gel bleed and deflation, which had led to a rippled effect.
We replaced the PIP  implants with high profile Nagor implants, which gave the breasts more projection and a better aesthetic result.

Hello. My name’s Adrian Richards. I’m going to be showing you a video now of a lady who had 250 cc implants inserted in 2008. They were PIPs. She’s looking to have them enlarged today. We’re going to be using Nagor high HR implants, which are the slightly higher profile implants because she’d like a very full look. We’ll be taking you through each stage of the operation.

So I’m going to just first of all remove the scar. We always remove the old scars. This scar’s long. It’s 6 centimetres. It’d normally be 4.5 centimetres. So I’ll remove it. Then we’ll look at the implant under the muscle, widen the pocket, and insert, first of all, a temporary, inflatable sizer and then the real implant when we’ve decided which size is best for her.

So I’ve removed the implant. Now you can see, deflated in the top, rippling in the upper portion. Not actually too bad for a PIP. Probably slightly less gel bleeding than normal. Still some, but overall, quite a good condition for a PIP, and it was located the right way round. We are seeing some that are coming out upside down.

460 cc Nagor implant and it’s high profile. I’m just going to put it in the pocket now.

Just removed the left one. Slightly more gel bleed this side and deflation. It is a 250 cc implant. So we’re going to be increasing it to 460, so just over 200 cc increase. You can see the rippling on the top, the deflation.

This is at the end of the operation. You can see the improved appearance in her bust, good volume. There’s tape on the scar bottom. So I think I’m pleased with [inaudible2:03].

I just want to show you the implants on both sides. This is the right one. You can see it’s a 250 cc, PIP. The lot number was 59307086. Actually not that bad condition for a PIP, some deflation and rippling, but not too bad. But, interestingly, the lot number and batch number was different on the left side.

So, overall, I think our patient today didn’t have too bad PIPs. They weren’t leaking that badly. They were intact, which is good news for her, but I think she probably will feel a bit more secure with her new Nagor implants and the warranty they give. Also, I think she’s going to get a better aesthetic appearance from her bust, which she’s happier with.

So thanks for watching the video. Please watch others in our series of videos.
