What are the options for lip enhancement?
The lips can be made fuller by the addition of a number of materials such as dermal fillers and fat taken from another area of your body. Whilst these treatments are effective they are both temporary and are uncomfortable for the patient. Permanent solutions have previously relied on implants that have not mimicked the natural contours of the lip and may, due to their surface characteristics, promote tissue ingrowth resulting in a restriction of lip movement and an unnatural smile.
Permalip implants for permanent results
Permalip offers a more definitive solution for permanent lip enhancement. Permalip is made of a soft, solid silicone implant using an injection moulding process to produce a naturally contoured implant with a smooth, non-porous surface. This surface minimises the chance of tissue adherence or in growth from the surrounding lip tissue. Permalip implants come in a variety of widths and lengths so you can select the one which will give you the appearance you would like Permalip cannot deflate or rupture, and although permanent, can be easily removed should you wish. Likewise it is simple to change the width and length of the implant if you decide you would like to change the appearance of you lips.
What does lip enhancement with Permalip involve?
The procedure is performed under Local Anaesthetic with you awake The operation takes approximately 30 minutes The incisions used to insert the Permalip implant are very small and concealed within the corner of your mouth Your lips will be swollen for 1-2 weeks following insertion of the Permalip implant. When the swelling has settled your lips will be fuller but feel and move normally
Results
Lip implants do not need to be removed unless you decide you would like them to be. For this reason, Permalip implants are considered to permanent - though if you wish to, you can change them for another size or shape of implant. One major advantage of lip implants is that - unlike dermal fillers - the result does not reduce with time.
