| What is it? |
- A mini tummy tuck is an operation to remove excess fat and skin from the lower tummy and waist, giving an overall tighter and more toned looking tummy area
|
| What it can’t do |
|
| What is involved? |
- Your surgeon will make a cut across your waistline in a broad U-shape
- The skin will be lifted and separated from the underlyling tissue and the excess fat removed, sometimes by liposuction
- The tummy muscles and associated tissue are then drawn together to tighten the waistline
- The skin is pulled tight over the tummy, trimmed and then attached together
- A mini-tummy tuck does not involve repositioning the navel
- The operation will take one to two hours to complete
- You will require a general anaesthetic and a stay overnight in hospital
|
| Things to be aware of |
- You can resume you normal activities within five to ten days and you should be fully recovered within two to three weeks
- Strenuous activity should be avoided for about a month after your operation
|
| Your results |
- You can expect the results of your mini tummy tuck to last for quite a while, although your lifestyle, diet and exercise routine will play a part in it all
- Over eating too many fatty foods and not exercising will lead to a gradual build up of excess fat around the tummy, undoing all the good work a mini tummy tuck achieves
