Brow Lift |
 |
 |
|
|
| What is it? |
- A brow lift is a surgical operation to reduce forehead lines and furrows and to lift a heavy or sagging brow and raise the eyebrows
- As well as lifting the brow area, the outer eye area can be reshaped and the muscle movement in the forehead between the eyebrows can be altered if required
|
| What it can’t do? |
- A brow lift can not improve baggy eyelids, puffy eyes or crow’s feet
- See eyelid surgery and wrinkle treatments for correcting these
|
| What is involved? |
Coronal brow lift
- Your surgeon will make a cut which runs from one ear, up across the top of your forehead and down to the other ear
- If your hairline is receding, or you have little hair, you can choose to have the incision line follow your current hairline or natural skull bone pattern to minimise the visibility of any scarring
- Once the cut is made, underlying tissue and muscle from your forehead is removed or altered on to create a smooth appearance
- The skin is then pulled up and trimmed before being stitched up
- The result is a smoother and tighter forehead
- You will probably stay in hospital overnight. Bandages will be applied around your head after the procedure, which you will need to keep in place for a week
Endoscopic brow lift
- Your surgeon may use an Endoscope to carry out your operation
- An Endoscope is a miniature camera that is inserted beneath the skin to relay images back to a monitor
- The advantage of using an Endoscope is that only a few small cuts are necessary
- These are situated within your hair line and will be almost
un-noticeable. The Endoscope allows your surgeon to view the area without pulling back the entire forehead skin. The Endoscopic procedure results in less visible scarring to the forehead
|
| Your recovery |
- You can expect to recover fully within one to two weeks
|
| Possible side effects |
- Soreness and some pain are likely to be felt around the incision point, lasting up to a week
- This may give way to an itching sensation around the incision area which could last for as long as six months. You should also expect some bruising and swelling of the forehead
|
| Your results |
- Brow lift surgery is a permanent procedure to lift the brow, although your skin will continue to age in the normal way
