Eye Brow Lift
Eye Brow Lift or forehead lift is a popular cosmetic procedure which elevates the eyebrow which tends to descend with age.
What is it?
- An Eye Brow Lift is a surgical operation to elevate the eyebrows.
- The underlying muscles can be trimmed reducing frown lines.
- Eye Brow Lifts with trimming of the muscles can be used as a treatment for some types of headaches which can be caused by excess muscle contraction.
What it can't do?
- An Eye Brow Lift can not improve puffy lower eyelids or crow's feet lines.
- See eyelid correction surgery and wrinkle reducing treatments for more information on these treatments.
There are 2 main types of Eye Brow lifts:
- Coronal Eye Brow Lift
- Endoscopic Eye Brow Lift
Coronal Eye Brow lift - What is involved?
- In this procedure your surgeon will make a cut which runs from one ear, up across the top of your scalp and down to the other ear.
- If your hairline is receding, or you have little hair, you can choose to have the incision line follow your current hairline or natural skull bone pattern to minimise the visibility of any scarring.
- Once the cut is made, underlying tissue and muscle from your forehead is removed or altered to create a smooth appearance.
- The skin is then gently elevated raising the position of your eyebrows.
- Your surgeon will be able to see your frown muscles and reduce them as appropriate.
- This results in an elevated eyebrow position which produces a more youthful and fresh appearance.
Endoscopic Eye Brow lift - What is involved?
- In this procedure your surgeon uses an Endoscope to see and treat your frown muscles.
- An Endoscope is a miniature camera that is inserted beneath the skin to relay images back to a screen.
- The advantage of using an Endoscope is that only a few small incisions in your scalp are necessary.
- These are situated within your hair line and will be almost un-noticeable.
- The Endoscope allows your surgeon to view the area without cutting across your scalp as in a coronal Eye Brow lift.
- The Endoscopic procedure results in less scarring and a quicker recovery.
Your recovery
- You can expect to return to social activities within one to two weeks of your surgery.
- Some swelling may remain for 1-2 months following surgery.
Possible side effects
- Soreness and some pain may be felt around the incision point.
- This may give way to an itching sensation around the incision area which could last for as long as six months. You should also expect some bruising and swelling of the forehead.
Your results
- Eye Brow Lift surgery is a permanent procedure to lift the eyebrow.
- Following surgery your eyebrow will slowly descend with gravity over time in the normal fashion way.
