Hello, my name’s Adrian Richards. I’m a plastic and cosmetic surgeon. I tend to specialise, amongst other things, in the correction of inverted nipples. In this short video, I’m going to be taking you through various types of inverted nipples, the different grades, and even the different types within those grades, to give you a taste of what the inverted nipples can look like.
So here’s quite a characteristic appearance with the transverse fold and that’s the line along which milk ducts attach.
Here’s another one, more of a depression in the upper part there.
Here’s a third nipple, all Grade 3s, but with inversion, with puffiness around the outside. This is, again, quite characteristic quite a flat nipple in this case, good sized areola.
This is immediately after correction. You can see, this is 20 minutes later with the nipple everted.
Again, before inversion, transverse fold again. I’m now going to correct that under local anaesthetic. Here we are immediately afterwards. You can see there is some rawness on the nipple immediately after surgery.
Again, another probably Grade 2 to 3 inversion which I’ve corrected here. The white area around the nipple is due to the effect of the local anaesthetic which reduces blood flow.
Here quite a dark areola, again, Grade 3 inversion. And here corrected immediately after surgery with a good correction of the inversion in that case.
Slightly bigger nipple, bigger areola in this case, again a Grade 3, which I’ve corrected there. This is immediately after the operation. You can tell it’s immediately afterwards because of the white areas.
Slightly flatter nipple in this case again with a very characteristic transverse fold which I’ve corrected there. That’s again immediately after surgery.
Again, here we are large areola, transverse fold, and I’m going to correct that. The nipple will be a little bit swollen for the first couple of weeks after surgery and then revert back to its normal state.
Here we are again, transverse fold, very characteristic, this transverse fold for inverted nipples. This is immediately after correction and with those internal stitches, which I’ve shown you in other videos holding the base of the nipple closed.
Here we are again, large areola in this case. Grade 3 inversion and this is corrected. You can see some of my marks still there which are characteristic.
Again another very characteristic inversion here, a transverse fold, corrected under local anaesthetic. I tend to use the same technique of dividing the ducts and using those stitches inside to secure the nipple.
Here we are. This is the final case before surgery. Here we are immediately after surgery.
Thank you very much for taking the time to watch the videos. I hope you enjoyed them and found them educational.
