PIP Replacement Surgery – Single Implant Ruptured

This patient received 350cc PIP implants in 2004, and came to Aurora Clinics for removal and replacement in 2012. We gave the patient Nagor 360cc implants in place of the removed PIPs.

During the surgery, Mr Richards finds one PIP implant to be ruptured with the silicone having slipped out of the outer casing. The split was a reasonable size, so Mr Richards was able to re-assemble the implant to show where the actual rupture occurred. Mr Richards also suspected it was a reasonably recent rupture.

The other implant was surprisingly still in its original shape with very little deflation and gel bleed. This was the implant used to measure, in comparison to the new implants, which the patient had requested to have a smaller appearance.
