Giving the gift of Cosmetic Surgery this Christmas
According to recent research, a growing trend means as many as 2 million Brits would consider gifting their partners a Cosmetic Surgery procedure for Christmas!
Top treatments thought likely to get loved ones’ eyes a-glow this year include: Breast Enlargement, Rhinoplasty (Nose Reshaping), Botox and Dermal Fillers.
However, approximately half this amount would apparently be offended if they were given such a gift by their partner! This is ironic because Harley Medical Group found that there is a similarly growing trend for treating yourself to a Cosmetic Surgery treatment as an “early Christmas present”; perhaps splurging that Christmas bonus or cash gift to look great for the New Year/party season.
When doing this, the two most popular treatments are exactly the same: Breast Enlargement and Nose Reshaping! Liposuction also features as a top “self-indulgence”. Perhaps this surgery was seen as TOO potentially offensive to gift to a partner….possibly suggesting that Botox and Dermal Fillers are similarly felt to be a bit personal as gifts, too, though Breast Enlargement and Rhinoplasty are somehow OK – the “on trend” presents of 2010?
Or maybe it all comes down to the way you give these items. Nobody wants to feel their partner is dissatisfied with how they look, so think carefully: is this gift really for your partner, or for you?
Nobody should ever feel pressurised into cosmetic procedures. If you genuinely feel that surgery might be just what your partner wants this Christmas, try discussing it openly with them.
Giving the gift of self-confidence and self-esteem is special enough, without needing the surprise element. This will allow your partner full control of selecting their surgeon, researching the procedure and arranging consultations.
If you are the lucky recipient? So long as you are happy and feel that changing your appearance will have positive benefits for you, try to see that your partner may be giving you a great empowering gift, not trying to criticise or hurt you.
