The NDM-1 bacteria – what does it mean for you?

There have been recent reports of a new type of antibiotic resistant bacteria called New Delhi Metallo 1 Strain. This is a strain of bacteria which originated in the Indian subcontinent.

The concern with this bacteria is that it is resistant to almost all types of antibiotic, making treatment very difficult.

You are generally very unlikely to develop infections with this type of bacteria unless you have been treated or had surgery in the Indian subcontinent.

Mr Richards, Clinical Director of Aurora Clinics, has recently produced the video above updating the current status with the NDM-1 Bacteria Strain, which gives you a full explanation of its implications for you.
