Professor James Frame is a highly accomplished and respected senior Consultant Surgeon operating at the Baddow Hospital, Chelmsford. He has over 25 years of experience specialising in Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery, and boasts a wide referral base which includes celebrity clients.

Alongside his private aesthetic work, he also continues with his NHS special interests in burn care, breast cancer reconstruction and repair of soft tissue sports injuries, particularly in elite athletes.

Professor Frame was brought up in Dunedin, New Zealand, where he won scholarships into secondary education. After returning to England with his family to complete his secondary education he went on to study medicine at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, qualifying in 1977. He pursued specialist plastic surgery training at Barts, Southampton, Chelmsford, UCH, St Andrew’s Billericay and Mount Vernon in Middlesex, before embarking on a distinguished career in the field.

To complement his surgical work, he is a prolific author with more then 80 peer-renowned papers, book chapters and articles published to date, covering a variety of subjects including burn care, trauma, reconstruction and aesthetic surgery. As a Senior House Officer and Registrar, he was the main author and researcher in the field of advanced burn injury care, tissue transplantation and regeneration.

Professer Frame has spent time as a Visiting Professor in Singapore, Australia and the United States and has strong international links in research and training. These were brought about by the awards of travelling Fellowships – in particular, the Winston Churchill Memorial Fellowship which allowed him extensive exposure to USA facilities.

He also leads and develops research interests at the Postgraduate Medical Institute (PMI) of Anglia Ruskin University, where he resides as Professor of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery at its Faculty of Health and Social Care. Under his guidance, the PMI provides a regional nucleus of postgraduate education and training alongside medical research and development.
