This episode in our Breast Enlargement FAQ series covers the resumption of regular exercise following your surgery. Obviously exercise is important, and is an important stage in your recovery process. This is a question we get asked a lot, primarily because we think our patients are concerned that they will resume regular exercise too soon after surgery.

You should be resting completely in the first couple of weeks. Then move onto mild tasks that will keep the blood moving, but not raising your blood pressure too high. If you raise your blood pressure too much it will make the bruising and swelling much worse. After this you should gradually increase your activities, each day doing a little more, but only within your limits of comfort. You should keep building up the exercsise and effort put in to your workout until you are back to full fitness, which is usually in the 6-8 week region post surgery.

You will have follow up appointments during this time, where your nurse and surgeon will give you advice tailored to your circumstances based on how you appear to be healing. It is different for everyone, but we feel after around 6 weeks you should be back to your regular routines with no adverse effects of the surgery.
