Breast Reduction Surgery (Mammoplasty)

Breast Reduction is also known as a Mammoplasty. A common complaint of large breasts is back and neck ache, with the weight of the breasts pulling forward, straining back and neck muscles. Also with gravity working against them, they tend to droop, even when supported in a bra, and over time the breasts will continue to sag and the skin of the breasts will naturally stretch under the weight of it.
A breast reduction procedure is usually combined with an uplift, as the nipple needs to be positioned in a new central location, and often in a reduction more tissue and fat is taken from one of the breasts as we find one is usually larger than the other. Overall after this procedure you will have a symmetrical smaller breast, which will leave you free to partake in activities you previously couldn’t.
You are advised to take it easy for 1-2 months post surgery to allow your body the chance to fully heal, but people heal at different speeds so during your post operative consultations you will be advised on activities you can and can’t do based on your wounds.
