What happens at the inverted nipple correction consultation?

Consultation is a vital part of your decision to have Inverted Nipple Correction. During Consultation with a specialist plastic or cosmetic surgeon, the grade of nipple inversion which you have can be determined, the best course of action decided and the full surgical process explained. Your surgeon can also help alleviate all your concerns.

At your consultation your surgeon will firstly listen to all of your concerns and then discuss with you the different approaches to inverted nipple correction. Ideally you would have listened to our free information CD on inverted nipple correction which will give you the best possible idea of the nature of surgery, so that you will be well informed and already have questions to ask at your consultation.

Your surgeon will then examine your nipple area and give you advice as to which grade best describes each of your inverted nipples and which treatment they would recommend for you.

At Aurora Clinics we treat over 200 people a year with inverted nipples and many of our patients come from distant areas in the United Kingdom as well as from abroad. Due to the distances involved in travelling to one of our clinics for a consultation, there are a number of different inverted nipple consultation options available.

1) Inverted nipple correction consultation in person

Wherever possible we do prefer to see you in person to allow us to discuss your concerns about your inverted nipples and then to carefully examine the area. We feel this gives us the best opportunity to assess the situation and give you the fullest explanation as to the best treatment for you.

At your inverted nipple correction consultation we would also give you further information about inverted nipple correction which would help enable you to make an informed decision whether to go ahead with the procedure. If you are travelling from a long way away it is possible to have this consultation on the same day as you have your surgery to avoid you having to make two trips to come and see us.

2) Inverted nipple correction consultation and surgery on the same day

If you are travelling from a long way away or a have a busy work schedule then you may find it more convenient, as some of our previous patients have done, to have a consultation and then, if you decide you definitely want to proceed with your inverted nipple correction surgery, to have the procedure on the same day.

This is more convenient for some patients, but it is important that you have first researched the procedure and understand the nature of the procedure as fully as possible before your consultation. This will involve listening to our detailed CD on inverted nipple correction and looking at other information on our website which includes inverted nipple correction video testimonials from other patients who have undergone this procedure themselves.

3) Inverted nipple correction consultation remotely by telephone

Many of our patients who are considering inverted nipple correction surgery live a significant distance from one of our clinics and thus find it inconvenient to come for a consultation in person.

In these cases we can have a consultation on the telephone or via Skype if this is more convenient for you. It is important for us to see photographs of your nipples from different angles so that we can assess the appearance of them before consultation. We can then advise you as to the grade of your nipple inversion and recommend the best treatment for you.

Many people find this a good option as you can have an opinion about the best treatment for your inverted nipples without having to attend an appointment with us. If your surgeon agrees that your nipples are suitable for inverted nipple correction surgery and you decide to go ahead, you can then discuss possible dates for the procedure at your telephone consultation.

Overall we do prefer it if you can come to see us in person to allow us to assess your nipples fully, and give you the best possible advice before scheduling any possible surgery at a later date. However we do understand that, for a number of reasons, it is sometimes impossible for patients to come and see us on two separate occasions and will do our best to accommodate you via a remote consultation or by combining the consultation and procedure.

Inverted nipple correction consultation advice

Any sudden change in inverted nipples or discharge can indicate an abnormality in the breast tissue itself including cancer and if you have noticed this you should immediately make an appointment to see your GP.

Whilst we do cover this topic at your consultation it is better if you have been to your GP first. At Aurora Clinics we would not treat anyone whose nipples had recently inverted. All of our patients have had long-standing nipple inversion since puberty.

If you find it helpful our specialist surgeons would be happy to discuss the risks fully with you at your consultation prior to you deciding to proceed with the surgery.

If you would like to hear previous patients' experiences of inverted nipple correction performed at Aurora Clinics you can visit the inverted nipple patient testimonial section of our website.
