What Is The Difference Between Different Liposuction Techniques?

July 26th, 2010

The main types of liposuction available currently are vaser liposuction, smart lipo, power assisted liposuction, water assisted liposuction.
In each of these techniques the fatty tissue is removed by suction through hallow tubes (cannulas).
The difference is in how the fatty tissue is treated prior to it being sucked out.
In vaser liposuction a ultrasound cannula an ultrasound is use to help to go and liquefy the fatty tissue.
In power assisted water assisted liposuction energy is used to dissolve the fatty tissue and make it easier to remove by suction.
The important thing to remember is that whichever technique you have used, the most important thing is the surgeon performing the operation.
As with any skill such as building or DI wire home it is not the tool that is most important and is who is operating it.

Is Liposuction The Solution for Me?

July 25th, 2010
Liposuction is not the cure for fatness.
Jenn if you are overweight particularly if your body mass index is over 30, liposuction is not the treatment for you.
You need to address your lifestyle issues and perhaps a personal trainer who can give advice on exercise and diet.
This is by far the safest, most effective way of gaining normal weight.
Liposuction is essentially for stubborn areas of fatty tissue which do not dissolve, which do not disappear when you lose weight.
These areas vary between individual and between the sexes. Also different in men and women.
These stubborn areas in fact the liposuction is most effective and appropriate for.

Why does this scar look like this?

July 24th, 2010

This picture was taken of a scar on a lady’s abdomen that I saw today.

She had a mole removed ten years previously and stitched up by her general practitioner.

The scar has faded well and it’s now a very right silvery color but unfortunately she’s been left with small dots on the either side of the incision

These dots occurs by in growth of the top layers of the skin epidermis into the deeper layers dermis.

If the stitches are left in too long the [epidermis] grows down the stitch tracks when it is embedded in the [dermis] it will permanently marks like this.

The plastic surgeons recommend removing stitches from the face and approximately five days and from the body before ten days. If the stitches removed before this time they are very unlikely to develop dots on either side of them as in this case.

What will the Scarring Look Like After Liposuction?

July 23rd, 2010

Scarring for liposuction is usually done minimum and I tell tend to people that it will fade to a very small pale involve and while is doing so may that likely small mole.

Generally for each area that have/has liposuction two small incisions will be required. In some cases three will be needed.
And this is because to achieve a flat result it is best to for the liposuction to be performed in a crossed section like a lattice which won’t reduce the risk of developing ridges and numbness that can occur if the liposuction tube is place is inserted through one hole only.
If you are having number of areas are treated your surgeon maybe able to use the same small incisions to it to remove fat from more than one area. This reduces the amount of incisions you will require.

Scarring for liposuction is usually very minimal and I tend to advise people that it will usually fade into a small pale scar.

Is Inverted Nipple Correction Possible After Previous Surgery?

July 20th, 2010

This lady is very interesting and that she have a right-sided inverted nipple for the past 45 years.

She underwent attempted correction of this in 1985 and again in 1995.
From the 4 picture of the nipple shows 4 pale scars radiating away from the nipple in a cross pattern.
These are produced by an old-fashioned technique for nipple inversion correction in which a tongue of tissue is elevated from the brown areola where these scars are and then brought under itself and then flipped and then reflect it over itself to go under the nipple to give it support.
The disadvantage of this technique is that they produces scars on the areola refers the brown area around the nipple.
It also is not did not always work as in this lady’s case where she notice recurrence of the nipple inversion almost immediately.
I corrected the nipple today under local anesthetic and the pictures are taken are the pictures of the nipple 20 minutes after the first pictures.
It is very unlucky that the nipple inversion will recur after using my technique for correction of inverted nipple correction.

The double-bubble effects – How I treated a patient

July 19th, 2010

Today I saw a very interesting patient who had a breast augmentation five years ago.  From examination the implants were lying in a very high position under the muscle.

I could tell the implants were under the muscle by asking the patient to place her hands on her hips and press inwards. This causes the muscles to contract and you can feel the movement and also see it compressing the implant as the muscle contracts. This is a good way of telling whether the implants are placed infront or behind of the muscle as the muscle contraction has no effect on the implants and if they are in front of the muscle as the muscle is behind them and cannot compress them.

At surgery the implants were noted to be in a very tight position totally under the muscle and I replace them in front of the muscle. I also removed tissue from the lower part of her breast as her nipple to inframammary-fold distance was very long.

The combination of this treatment will give her a more natural softer appearance without the double-bubble effect.

Liposuction – How Much Can Be Removed?

July 17th, 2010
Generally the maximum amount of fatty tissue that I recommend be removed during liposuction is 5 liters of fatty tissue.
This corresponds to approximately 5 kilograms of fat.
The reason I do not recommend removal of more tissue than this is that it can cause disturbances to the fluid balance in the body and serious complications following surgery and more common if more than more 5 liters is removed.
However, 5 liters of fatty tissue being removed will make it considerable difference to your overall body shape.
